Brooks England
John Boultbee Brooks was born on April 22 1846 in Hinckley, Leicestershire. 20 years later Mr. Brooks traveled to Birmingham with 20 dollars in his pocket to establish the J.B. Brooks & Co, a company producing leather harnesses and tackles for horses. After his horse’s death Mr. Brooks decided to try a bicycle instead. The saddle caused Mr. Brooks excruciating pain and therefore he was determined to design a more comfortable saddle in 1878. In the late 1800s JB Brooks filed multiple saddle patents, became a public company, and helped with bikes in the Olympics. During WWI Mr. Brooks designed gun clips for bikes and a few years later started designing seats for motorcycles and redesigning their products to make them waterproof. Mr. Brooks passed away in 1921 but the business continued on by making cycling shoes, seats and lifeguard helmets. In the past 5 years the company is still creating bags, saddles and jackets for cycling. For over 150 years, Brooks England has been providing quality goods and lifetime services. The company offers maintenance and repairs for their customers.
