Umbra

Umbra was founded in 1979 in Toronto, Canada by graphic designer Paul Rowan.  Paul was in the market for a new window shade for his home and found himself unable to find one that was his taste and within his price range, so he took matters into his own hands and designed and crafted his own.  He went on to collaborate with his childhood friend Les Mandelbaum, and together they started innovating uniquely stylish and functional household items, starting what is now known as Umbra.  Over the past few decades, the brand has been recognized by various high-end style and fashion publications by designing award-winning products that are contemporary, sleek, unique, and affordable.  Umbra products are now sold in over 120 countries.
