Shwood Sunglasses were born from a simple experiment with nature. Using a limb from a Madrone tree, a pair of rusted out cabinet hinges, and some lenses from a corner store, Shwood hand crafted its first pair of glasses. With a desire to create individual and unique products from nature, Shwood experiments with design, material and aesthetics to craft 100% UVA/UVB sunglass protection. Shwood’s in-house manufacturing process in Portland, Oregon, uses technology and craftsmanship for entirely handcrafted pieces of wood frame eyewear. Each step from veneering and precise lens cutting, to shaping and finishing is done in the USA. Wood manipulation is kept to a minimum to highlight the wood’s natural and unique beauty.
