Marmot
Founded in 1974, Marmot was then known as Marmot Mountain Works. Tom Boyce, David Huntley, and Eric Reynolds came together to open a rental and retail store under the name Marmot Mountain Works in Grand Junction, Colorado. Marmot earned its name from the club that Eric and Dave began during their college days at University of California, Santa Cruz. 'Marmot' is a group of large, social squirrels that live in mountainous areas. Marmot made it's biggest debut in Eiger Sanction, a Clint Eastwood movie. The Marmot team created over 100 puffy jackets especially for this opportunity. This opened the door to many more exciting orders, with more and more visibility. Marmot strives to minimize their impact on the environment whenever possible. By using many enviro-free products they have reduced their footprint, raising awareness whenever possible. Marmot's commitment to quality performance products, such as their jackets or other apparel, has made it go-to company for quality outdoor clothing and sporting goods.
