Daughter of the Land
Ashley Spierer founded Daughter of the Land after moving from her home in New York City to Chennai, India. She moved there to work for a maternal health startup focused on reducing maternal mortality in local hospitals. Ashley is an avid proponent of “natural” skincare and she brought along her own supply of body, face and hair products with her when to went to India. One of her friends suggested using coconut oil on her skin and frizzy hair. After this experience she learned that women had been using coconut oil and other pure ingredients for generations. She noticed that these single ingredients did the work of other specialty products. After realizing this Ashley decided to create Daughter of the Land. She believes that skincare should be created naturally and made simply. Daughter of the Land upholds high standards with their products every step of the way. Every formula used is made with fair trade and organic ingredients. The packaging is made using recycled recycled paper, glass and metal. Daughter of the Land believes that you can take great care of your body, while also taking care of the environment and surrounding communities. Daughter of the Land operates in Seattle, Washington and Brooklyn, New York.
